Bowls Life

What fun will I have as part of playing bowls?

Match Days

Friendly matches are played almost every Saturday and Sunday afternoon during the season, plus the occasional weekday match. The season lasts from the middle of April until the end of September. With the regular practice evening and casual play available at all other times, as well as a variety of competitions, there is ample opportunity to actually play bowls.

Match days - coach trips

On match days which involve a coach trip, the rendezvous is Belvedere Social Club. The coach leaves at 9.30 a.m. Currently the coach trips are to Ramsgate, Cheriton(Folkestone), Hythe, Whitstable and Deal. At the moment the coach trips cost £17 per bowler, and £14 per visitor. This cost includes refreshments at the opponent's green.

Belvedere Social Club

The Social Club facilities are of course available at all times as part of your Social Club Membership, and you can visit C.I.U. clubs anywhere in the country with the affiliation card.

Pre-season dance

The pre-season dance is held at the beginning of April. and costs £6 a ticket for a disco and buffet. A very enjoyable friendly evening with the bowlers, friends and family, and other interested parties from the social club

Annual Presentation and Dinner Dance

The annual dinner and dance takes place in early November with a  sit down dinner (4 courses) and a disco. The bowls club has competitions through the season and this event is used for the presentation of the trophies. Some people dress up for the occasion but the vast majority are dressed smart casual. A nice relaxed colourful evening that is attended mainly by bowlers and friends

More Bowls

For the 60+ age group, the game of Bowls affords the opportunity, not available in many other sports, to play competitively. Many competitions are organized.

There are our own Club competitions to enter, which members are encouraged to enter, with finals day in September.

Then there are the CIU competitions, North Kent competitions and Bexley Borough competitions which you can enter if you wish.
